The Railway Board issued a letter on August 24th about mandatory DigiLocker integration, leading to confusion for some people. The primary questions were about how to add documents and what to do if someone has two degrees or diplomas. Let’s start with the basics.
Create a DigiLocker Account:
Go to digilocker.gov.in and create an account if you haven’t already. You’ll need an Aadhaar number to link your account securely.
Upload Documents:
After signing up, follow the steps to add your educational documents, such as your 10th, 12th, diploma, or degree certificates. If you’ve completed your education before 2018, some universities might not have shared their data with DigiLocker, so your documents might not appear. Don’t worry, physical documents are still valid during exams or document verification.
Handling Multiple Degrees or Diplomas:
Scenario 1: Private and Regular Degrees:
If you completed one regular and one private degree (e.g., you did an ITI course after 10th grade and completed 12th privately), there’s no issue. The railway won’t object.
Scenario 2: Regular Degrees at the Same Time:
If you completed two regular degrees simultaneously (e.g., ITI and 12th after 10th), this can cause complications. In such cases, the railway might take action if both degrees were pursued on a regular basis during the same period.
Railways is primarily concerned with the qualifications you present when applying. If your degree or diploma matches the job requirements, you should be safe. However, if you try to use two different qualifications for separate positions (e.g., applying for a Junior Engineer and NTPC at the same time), this might lead to an issue.
Linking your DigiLocker account with your Railway profile is necessary and beneficial, but it’s essential to understand how to manage your documents, especially if you have multiple degrees or diplomas. If you find any trouble with document uploads, don’t panic. Your physical documents will still be valid.
